| Oral Steroids: | ||||||||
| Indications for oral steroids are: | ||||||||

Severe pleuritic chest pain. | |||||||
- |
Severe infective exacerbation on admission. | |||||||
- |
Failure to respond to routine intravenous antibiotics - usually halfway though treatment. | |||||||
- |
Previous documented history of asthma responsive to steroids. | |||||||
- |
Arthropathy and vasculitis. | |||||||
- |
Allergic Broncho-Pulmonary Aspergillosis (ABPA) | |||||||
| All patients commencing steroids should have full BM monitoring through day. No patients should be left on long term oral steroids unless there is a specific indication e.g. Allergic Broncho-Pulmonary Aspergillosis. |
